Bronte Neighbourhood in Oakville Overview

Bronte, or Bronte Village is a southern Oakville neighbourhood that shares a border with Lake Ontario.

Bronte is northwest of Lake Ontario and south of the railroad that runs through Oakville and carries the GO Train service. It is bound by Rebecca Street to the north, Third Line to the east, Lake Ontario to the south and Burloak Drive to the west. Bronte is in the south corner of Oakville and shares that western border with nearby Burlington. Some main attractions of the Bronte neighbourhood include several waterfront parks, beaches, harbours, and piers with many opportunities to enjoy the stunning view of Lake Ontario. Many of the residential streets that connect to Lakeshore Road in the southern end of the neighbourhood offer retirement communities, condos, and apartments with waterfront views. The Bronte Creek that connects to Lake Ontario and flows through Bronte offers even more water access as well as a public boat launch. Closer to the centre of the neighbourhood, the Bronte Village area offers shopping, dining, and other services with a convenient location for residents of the neighbourhood.

This waterfront neighbourhood is popular for its outdoor recreation spots. With opportunities for shopping and dining off Lakeshore Road and even a few schools throughout the neighbourhood, it is a contender for a great family destination. In addition to the parks and beaches on the water, the centre and north end of the neighbourhood are filled with parks, woods and a network of wooded trails connecting them. Living in the north end of Bronte puts residents close to the vital GO Train access while living in the southern end has the potential for waterfront views. Many of the older, detached homes in Bronte are very expensive, but there are options with a lower price tag in the apartment-style buildings around the neighbourhood.
