Corman / South Meadow, Hamilton, Ontario Overview
Corman is a Hamilton neighbourhood located on the ridge of the Niagara Escarpment in the southeastern Stoney Creek area. The neighbourhood is bound by Queenston Road (Highway 8) to the north, Green Road to the East, the Escarpment and Ridge Road to the south, and Gray Road to the west. South Meadow is the area just east of Corman with its eastern boundary marked by Millen Road. The areas are known for their blend of convenient shopping and dining to the north and the beauty of the Niagara Escarpment to the south. Both make a great choice for a family looking to enjoy a little distance and seclusion from the Hamilton core.
Real Estate in Corman and South Meadow
Both neighbourhoods are considered to be a part of the busy Stoney Creek real estate market. While it is just as active as the sections of the Hamilton core, Stoney Creek boasts a higher average sale point than any of the Hamilton core neighbourhoods. At the end of 2019, Stoney Creek had an average sale price of about $560,000 while the next highest in the Hamilton core was $505,000 in Hamilton West. Living in Stoney Creek is a little more expensive than living in the Hamilton core and homes are quite sought-after in the area. Even within Stoney Creek, the average cost of a home in the Corman and South Meadow area is a bit higher at about $615,000. Both neighbourhoods have a lot of detached housing options with sizable yards and quiet streets, making them popular for families. Development taking place in South Meadow has newer detached properties listed for upwards of $950,000 with several homes that cross the $1,000,000 mark.
Living in Corman and South Meadow
Life in Stoney Creek is distinct from the Hamilton core. It is a little quieter and more secluded and is a great retreat for families that are looking for more space and a slower pace. There are several large parks in and around both neighbourhoods and a good selection of schools within walking distance for students. Thanks to a large commercial area that runs along both sides of Queenston Street, there are grocery stores, family restaurants, fast food, and other shopping destinations mere minutes away. One final boon of the area is the green space of the Niagara Escarpment that runs to the south of Corman and South Meadow. Some southern streets even benefit from a beautifully dense tree line decorating the lots!
