Battlefield is an East Hamilton neighbourhood that is a part of the community of Stoney Creek. It is located north of Ridge Road, east of Centennial Parkway, south of Queenston, and west of Lake Avenue Drive. This neighbourhood’s name sounds like it is straight out of a movie or video game, but it actually holds important historical significance for the City of Hamilton: the site of the Battle of Stoney Creek. A defining feature of the Battlefield neighbourhood is its namesake park, museum, and monument on the west side of the neighbourhood.
Real Estate in Battlefield
Living in the Stoney Creek area is a little more expensive on average than living in the Hamilton core. At the end of 2019, the average price for a property in Stoney Creek was a little over $560,000. This figure is higher than any of the listed averages for Hamilton East, West, Centre, and Mountain. Like the rest of Hamilton, prices and market activity are on the rise from the 2018 figures. Stoney Creek is one of the more popular communities in Hamilton but outside of the city’s original core. The Battlefield area has a good mix of apartment-style condominium properties and single-family residences with both detached and semi-detached options. The area is quite sought-after, but with some searching, there is a great variety of housing options in the Battlefield area for just about any kind of buyer.
Living in Battlefield
Much of Battlefield and Stoney Creek’s popularity comes from its great location. The community is just far enough from the Hamilton core to remain separate from the rush of the city, but still close enough to appreciate a lot of the convenience the GTHA has to offer. Battlefield in particular is an area with a rich heritage and a good blend of residential, commercial, and community space. Battlefield is closer to Queen Elizabeth Way access and Lake Ontario than it is to the Hamilton Core. Residents of Battlefield enjoy two of the area’s most iconic landmarks, Battlefield Park - the site of annual reenactments of the Battle of Stoney Creek - and the Devil’s Punchbowl Conservation Area - one of Hamilton’s coolest-looking waterfalls. With opportunities for Parks and shopping all throughout Battlefield, there is no shortage of amenities, family activities, and options for a day out on the town.
