Brantford Ontario Overview

Brantford Ontario Homes for sale

Brantford, Ontario is a city located in Brant County, but with its own municipal government. This storied southwestern Ontario city has some of the country’s most notable claims to fame as the home of both Alexander Graham Bell and hockey legend Wayne Gretzky. Brantford takes its name from Joseph Brant, a Mohawk leader who was granted the land around the Grand River to resettle his people following the American Revolution. Today, Brantford maintains an impressive dedication to its history through monuments, historic homesteads, and museums. The heritage areas of the city are often chosen as filming sites for period-specific television shows like Murdoch Mysteries.

Brantford Ontario real estate

Brantford is a city of 61 square kilometres and nearly 100,000 people on the 403. The city enjoys a central location, being just over 40km North of Port Dover and access to Lake Erie. Nearby cities include London Ontario the West, Kitchener and Guelph to the North, and Hamilton to the East with public transportation into the GTA. Brantford also has direct highway access to the City of Toronto, which is a 100km drive away along the 403. In addition to the attractions all around it, Brantford itself has plenty of festivals, tournaments, and famous sights to be proud of.

Real Estate in Brantford has been hot for a little while now. The city began to see an increase in average home prices as commuters started to look for alternatives outside of the GTA. After a few years of bumps to the cost of housing, the average price of a detached property is about $435,000 in 2019. This average is pushed up by more expensive areas in the city while very few neighbourhoods have an average price below $400,000. Prices weren’t the only value rising as total transactions and inventories also increased between 2018 and 2019.
